Barrett Swope 2Tipp City, OH (August 3, 2018) — The Bethel Local School District welcomes two new members to the administrative team.  Mr. Barrett Swope will serve as the district’s High School Principal. He received his Social Studies degree from Bob Jones University and Masters of Education in Social Studies as well as Educational Leadership from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  A professional educator, he has extensive administrative experience ranging from elementary through high school. Mr. Swope started his career as a high school social studies teacher and coached various varsity sports including Cross Country, Track, Baseball and Basketball.  He was a principal at Middletown Christian Schools for eleven years and then moved to Clinton-Massie as a high school principal from 2014-2018

 

 

Duane Caudill

 

 

Our new middle school principal is Duane Caudill.  Mr. Caudill worked in Springfield City Schools for ten years as a classroom teacher and mathematics curriculum coach.  He then moved to Triad Local Schools serving as their middle school principal since 2008.  Under his leadership, Triad Middle School received the Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education in 2016 and 2017.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Business and Administration and his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Dayton University and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Urbana University.

 

 

 

Virginia Potter, Superintendent of Bethel, received assistance in the hiring process from a team of Bethel administrators and a team of Bethel teachers from the middle and high school.  She also sought input from numerous teachers using their information to create a profile of the qualities the staff desired in their administrators as well as a series of interview questions.  There were two rounds of interviews with the administration team interviewing nine candidates.  The middle school teachers interviewed five of the nine candidates in the second round; the high school teachers interviewed four of the nine candidates in their second round.  Following a detailed and thorough interview process with numerous reference checks and team discussions, Mr. Caudill and Mr. Swope were selected.
